Baking workshop

Attended a Chocolate cake baking and Chocolate Fondant Roses making workshop... this being my very hands-on baking workshop and I'm enjoying it :-) had fun making the roses.

It's a two days workshop... first, learnt to bake a solid chocolate butter cake and make chocolate fondant roses. on the second day, learnt to put the fondant over the cake... not an easy thing to do :-) very tricky... but to decorate it ... is FUN :-)

stayed on to learn about shortcakes :-) a very long day but enjoyed every minute of it :-)

gonna attend the cake pop workshop tomorrow :-)

have signed up for the PME sugarcraft workshop next month... so looking forward to it :-)

engagement ring box

Was asked to make an engagement ring box...

Used glitter paper to make the box, glued a Prima flower in the center of the box (the ring should fit in the center of the flower snugly). Covered the box with flower and tie with ribbon.

Murals... it's something really fun and challenging.

Did two murals - one in the school library reading corner (which was a personal project) and the other - a major project cause it's the entire room with the theme 'under the sea' and i had lots of other parent volunteers and teachers who pitched in to help complete the mural.

received a call on Thursday afternoon that my dad had just passed away... it's just too sudden, i called him earlier on his birthday to wish him happy birthday (which was on 19 July) and he wasn't feeling well that day. He was admitted to the hospital that evening as he was vomiting blood and blood in his stools. He passed away at 3.55pm on Thursday, 21 July 2011

Drove up to KL on Friday (afternoon). Booked into Empire Hotel at Subang Jaya. After checking in, went to Nirvana where the funeral was held.

it's kinda sad but at such occasion, is the time where i got to meet up with all my cousins (from my father's side) ... which i have not met for many years. Brings back such good memories of growing up together, the gatherings during festive seasons...

and friends too, which i have not met for a long time...

Dad was cremated on Monday, 25 July 2011 at Nirvana Memorial Park in Shah Alam. One of the rare occasion where everyone of us were there... even though there were just the 4 of us with our families and mom. After the cremation, we went out and bought lunch and had a good time bonding at the Memorial Park. It's a time for our children to bond with their cousins too.

Drove back to singapore that afternoon, with a heavy heart...

volunteered to do something for a friend's surprise birthday party, did a sign in book for the guests and a rose gift box with a roche chocolate inside - for the guest to take home :-)
had fun making the roses and boxes...of course with the help from my youngest daughter :-) we made almost 90 of them!

it's been ages since i last blogged.... with all the packing and moving and unpacking!
well, finally moved and unpacked...just left a small corner with few boxes and no place
to fit them in yet... may just need to get rid of more stuff!

all my craft stuff are now in storage! have yet to go to the storage and sort them out...
papers are all sorted out before moving to storage but the tools and all the rest are
in boxes and need to be sorted out... hope to get it done asap so that i can start
doing something again!

did managed to do some stuff while packing ...will post them later.

hi still unable to find time to scrap, craft and even blog...
Leaving tonight for Melbourne, gonna send my eldest girl
there for her foundation studies at Trinity College... not
sure what to expect but at this point of time, i have too
much on my hands to think about not having her around
at home! will be there to help settle her in and then i'll be
back and another madness starts... as i have to start packing!
sigh...it's like a vicious cycle with no end in sight!

Hopefully this will be my last time having to pack and move...
cos we are finally getting our own apartment...smaller than the
current place that we rented but then again, it's easier to manage
especially when it comes to cleaning :-)

hope to squeeze some time to craft as i pack too :-)

have been seriously slacking! sigh....
didn't really got the chance to just sit at my craft table!

Just came back from Kuala Lumpur, last minute decision to drive up to visit the grandparents during this Chinese New Year festival. Drove up yesterday, met up with my parents and brothers and their children and this morning, met up with a long time friend and my husband's mom and brother and his family.... was short but had a great time catching up :-) arrived home around 7.15pm, tired after a 4 hours drive back, traffic was pretty heavy otherwise would have reached in 3 hrs!
decided to try and complete the wedding card for the competition...just managed to finish the card.

One of our local scrapbooking store requested a door hanging ornament with the words " I'm so loved" dedicated to Autism Awareness. The ornaments will then be given to the students at Pathlight (school for autistic children) so i do sincerely hope it will touch the child who's receiving it :-)

Finally, got down to scrapping a page...has been so busy with a few projects with the primary school... needed to make a 3D, life sized paper mache tree and it's taking longer than i anticipated... then needed to raise funds for choir; taking the opportunity since Mother's Day is coming...so a few choir moms got together to make cards and taking orders for flowers... gonna get even busier when the day comes...

At the same time, needed to hunt for another place to move and by June 14.... sigh! everything just have to happen at the same time...

Anyway, the above is a page of my girls growing years.... such sweet memories looking back at when they were younger :-)

bought a clipboard sometime back but have not done anything to it yet...so when i completed the project for my oldest girl, decided to play with the clipboard. Been so busy lately, couldn't find much time to make any cards nor update my blog...

Did manage to make a birthday card from the school choir for a very special person :-)

As you can see, i have to attach a few extra pages for the choir to sign (which is about 80 of them minus the teachers etc) and a group photo on the fold-in part of the card. A memorable photo of the trip to Sydney where the choir performed at Sydney Opera House.

Reunion Dinner is very much part of our Chinese traditon where family get together on Chinese New Year's eve. Since we came to Singapore in 2000, we had always been having our Reunion Dinner at a restaurant but decided to cook and eat at home this year. A very simple menu, we had Korean ginseng Chicken soup (which Gaby helped to cook), stewed mushrooms and Sonny cooked the prawns and abalone with broccoli and cauliflowers. we started off with 'Loh hei' with yu sheng from Shang Palace. Did a layout to remember this special occasion ;-)

Advent Mailbox

Finally, got the advent calendar done (though it's one day late :-p) Just couldn't decide what to make for the girls' advent this year.... went to the supermarket the other day and saw the mailbox on sale, it's actually a Cookies for Santa kit which includes a cookie mix, a cookie cutter and sprinkles... would be fun to bake with the girls and get to alter the mailbox too.

Angel Tree Topper

it's the time of the year when we pulled the tree out of the closet and the fun of setting the tree up for Christmas. My youngest daughter was bugging me to buy an angel to put on top of the tree but i thought why not make one :-) so i used MR chipboard girl and some floral ribbon, pearls, added netting wings...the skirt actually supports the angel and therefore, it can stand on its own... thanks for looking :-)

christmas brooch

had a christmas 'make & take' today and colour theme : red and green... didn't have such combination so used a tree chipboard, glitter paper, added snow and snowflakes and star buttons....couldn't find a brooch backing so decided to use a mini wooden peg with mitten and wrote 'Happy holidays' on the wooden mitten. That should meet the requirement :-)

made this simple christmas tree 'loaded' with chocolates and tags for each of the ladies at my favourite, most frequented scrapbooking shop in Spore. there are chocolates and tags on both side of the tree :-) hope they like it.

has always love making gingerbread house, i altered a milk carton from Art Blanche into a gingerbread house gift box... great for putting goodies inside to give away as present :-)

just realized that my very good friend's birthday is a few days away and i will be meeting her for a dinner function...with only less than half an hour to go plus i still need to shower too :-) i had to quickly get her card done, shower and rush off.
